After my vintage finds yesterday, I headed up to Yarnell with a friend to explore and have lunch. It was a rather perfect afternoon. I found these chippy chairs. I sanded them just a bit and recovered the seats with old quilt. They would be perfect with a little table and the LOVE sign I found earlier. This is before with plastic seat covers: This is after with quilted fabric tops:

I was on my way to swim laps yesterday when I decided to go to a sale about 10 miles out of town. I figured I could do both things if I didn't doddle. I was so glad I listened to my instinct! The sale was conducted by a woman who has an antique store in town. I thought it would be out of my price range to buy and resale, but I found such fun items that I decided to take a chance.

I started painting this suitcase in December, and I decided today was a good day to finish it! I sold the last one I did. I reversed the colors on this suitcase, and I don't think my pictures do it justice. This one is larger than the last one, the inside is very nice and I painted sayings on both sides of this one. I hope it will find a good home!

I bought this spindle shelf. It's odd and yet unique. I decided to clean it up and go from there. After a good nights sleep, I decided to stain the inside light wood pieces and leave it alone! Ok, I couldn't leave it alone. I had some chalk paint and I decided to give it a try.

I had the most wonderful weekend in Williams, Az. with my husband. We went camping, jeeping, and exploring. We also stopped at a flea market in Williams, and I found some fun treasures. I had seen a picture of a shadow box attached to an old roller skate some time ago, and guess what I found...a pair of roller skates! I had a cigar box that fit the skate perfectly, so I used that as my box, and put old sewing stuff inside the box. I also found 2 galvanized buckets, some old silverware, and a giant mailbox.

I took a wood box with a top that slides up and made it into a flower box gift. I glued the fabric to the top of the box and filled the inside of the box with a small bag of potting soil, little pots, flower seeds, garden gloves, a spade, and a water mist sprayer.

This is a work in progress! I found this box at the Habitat Store. I picked it up and my husband said, "really"? It had carpet glued to one side and it was pretty odd. You guessed it, I bought it! I brought it home and peeled all the junk off it. Then I put it away. Then I painted it. Then I put it away. It had a wood bottom, so I covered it with a nice plank paper. Yep, and put it away. Today I found 4 wood legs in my junk box. I asked my husband if they could be attached to my box. He said maybe, if he could get the old screws out. Next thing I know, there is my box with 4 wood legs. I wish I could do all this stuff myself, but why, when I have such a sweet husband! Now I will put it away until I figure out what to paint on it. A saying, distress it, not sure yet!

I am having a really hard time figuring out how to have comments on my blog. I use to get some comments and then blogger was purchased by google. Now you have to have a google account to leave a message, and sometimes it has to go through a filter. This is what happened to your comments Sheryl. I am still not getting all of my emails. I found this out when I applied for a show and I didn't get their response. Anyway, I'm sorry if you have tried to comment or have emailed me and I didn't respond. I think this summer I may revamp my blog and use a new outlet. Until then, I hope you will keep looking at my blog and find some inspiration through it! Sincerely, Terry
Ok, I said I wouldn't have time to post new blog entries, but I went to school yesterday and spent the day preparing for the last week of school. I got my lesson plans done, did my paperwork, and cleaned my classroom. I spent the good part of the day at school, but it was worth it. So today I took pictures of some of my new projects. I also talked my man into helping me with a couple of projects. He is a keeper! So today's project is a whiteboard. I've had this frame for a long time, but I wasn't sure what to do with it. I thought about putting glass in it, or using it as a headboard in my camper. Then I was talking to a friend and she said it should be a frame for a whiteboard. Well, yes it should! My hubby cut the whiteboard to fit the frame, I added the little numbers, hooks and door thing. I really like it. If it doesn't sell it's going in my classroom.

One of my favorite blogs is funkyjunkinteriors.net. Donna made the cutest tray from old stuff and I wanted to try my own version of the project. I took a piece of plywood, 2 metal things I found at the thrift store to use for handles, some white chalk paint that I bought at Junk in the Trunk, some acrylic paint, and a French image I got free from The Graphics Fairy. Before I go on, I have to tell you that The Graphics Fairy is a wonderful place to find fab graphics for free, check it out! Anyway, I sanded my plywood, painted it white with chalk paint, sanded it down after it dried to make it look old. Then I added my handles (really my hubby did that for me). Then I took the image and used graphite paper to transfer it on the wood. Next I painted the text with acrylic paint, and used permanent marker to add a little detail. I let it dry and sanded it a little bit to make the text look aged too. I will wax the tray as well so it can withstand whatever is set on it.

Today I wanted to do a project without spending any money. I got a piece of 2X4, old door hinges, and a vintage vent that I found on a jeep ride. I just started adding the pieces and came up with a spice rack. I had old spice cans and rusty cans and lids, and ta-da!

So, I am driving to work this morning. I tell myself, if you see a yard sale sign you should stop. This is a gut feeling. So I'm almost to work and what do I see....yes, a yard sale sign. I drive down to a house that is in an alley, and I'm thinking, really, should I stop? Yes. So I get out of my jeep and there is not a soul in sight. I look around, and my eye catches these 2 old wood boxes. I love old wood boxes. I start getting excited. Then I spy this metal stand with 3 old lanterns hanging from it. Oh, boy, I can't hardly stand it. Then I see a One Way sign, and I'm over the moon. So now I have 5 minutes to buy this stuff and get to work. There is nobody around. I knock on the door. No answer. I think, ....., and I don't want to leave because I have these wonderful treasures! I knock again, and cars are starting to pull in. Finally the door opens and here is one of my students. She just looks at me and I start laughing. Anyway, the man of the house walks up, and it is obvious that I have just woke him up. I apologized, but told him there were more shoppers arriving. I pay for my treasures and I am giggling all the way to work. I tell my teacher friends about my new found goods and they just look at me. I email my sister and tell her because I know she will share in my excitement. Yes, she mails back and says she can't wait to see what I found. Thank goodness for sisters! I have the best!!

I wanted to find a cute way to hang aprons and vintage linens that didn't take up a lot of space and still looked appealing. I decided to make some hangers out of cardboard. The first one I made was plain cardboard, the second one I covered the cardboard with a pretty napkin and the next one I think I will try vintage linen. I can hang my business blog card from it and it makes a fun way to advertise and it's a little extra gift with a purchase.

I have noticed that sayings are pretty hot right now. I saw a lot of signs at Junk In The Trunk. Many were painted on pieces of wood. I decided to paint some sayings on trays. I got the trays pretty cheap and I think they would be fun to use for drinks or just displayed around the house. I still need to paint a crown on the first tray.

The good news- I will have a booth at The Big Heap in Flagstaff this June! I'm very excited to be in this wonderful show. I have been working on new projects and have finished a few favorites from the last show. My husband took an old door and made a display for me. I love it! Other news: I went to Junk In The Trunk in Scottsdale this Saturday. Wow! I had never been to this vintage fair before and it was pretty amazing! I would really like to do this show in September. Once again it is a juried show, so I hope to make my booth really cute in Flagstaff so that I can send in my application and pictures and hopefully be selected to participate. I took a couple of pictures to share with you.
