Sew Ready!

I thought it would be a good idea to have a needle and thread ready for quick fixes. I gathered up a spool of thread, a fabric covered button, a little doily, and a sewing needle. Then I put them all together. First take a covered button and embellish it if you'd like. Then glue it to the top of a spool of thread, stick a needle in the top and you are ready to sew! The second one I made is basically the same, except on the top I covered a round piece of cardboard with fabric, and glued on a little fabric flower I made with scraps. photo image-139.jpg

Quilted Bench

This was a quick and easy project. I took a bench, painted the base, covered the seat with an old quilt piece, added some embellishments, and it was complete. photo image-136.jpg

Clothes Valet

When I was at my sister's, she was selling a clothes valet. I thought it was so cute. When I got home I decided to make one for myself. This would be a great way to set out my clothes for school this year. Hum? I wonder if I could really be that organized? I'll let you know how that goes! photo image-134.jpg photo image-135.jpg

Spice Rack

I had this little spice rack. It was pink and it had rabbits on it. Cute, but not really my thing. I sanded it down, distressed it with paint and then took cowboy masking tape that my niece sent on a package and I attached it to the front of the rack. I added 2 knobs, and it was done. photo image-92.jpg

This will be my last blog entry about my trip! I had my first attempt at dutch oven cooking and it was fine, what can I say?! Krista's eggs were much better than mine, but at least I tried. photo 024-4.jpg photo image-133.jpg photo 026.jpg The last night Jill catered our dinner. It was wonderful! I didn't have to do a thing but enjoy it with my sisters!! Thank you Cindy, it was a wonderful week!! photo 035-3.jpg photo 036.jpg

Craft Show and Art Classes

While we were on the ranch we had a craft show and a couple of art classes. I taught a class where we made canvas photo holders, and Cindy taught stained glass and slumped glass tags. photo image-132.jpg I have to show you some of the wonderful items my niece Shannon made for the craft show. They are AMAZING!! photo image-120.jpg photo image-122.jpg photo image-121.jpg

Fly Fishing at Highline Funfest

One of the special events on the trip was fly Fishing! There were 2 instructors, Bob and Mike, who took us fishing in their boats. I caught 2 fish and I was so happy. Peggy gets fisher-woman of the trip for the 7 fish she caught. It was just beautiful out on the water. photo 022-3.jpg photo image-118.jpg photo 019.jpg photo 1.jpg

Highline Ranch Sister Funfest

I just got back from a Sisters on the Fly gathering at my sister and brother-in-law's ranch in Wyoming. It was so much fun! I got to meet a group of wonderful Wyoming and Colorado women. I am going to post the next few blog entries about my adventures! Day 1, everyone met up in Saratoga and then went to the ranch to set up their campers. Here are a few pictures of some cuties, both from in town and on the ranch. photo image-126.jpg photo image-125.jpg photo image-129.jpg photo image-124.jpg

Jewelry Display Cards

I wanted to come up with a way to display jewelry with materials I already have. I took some book covers, attached pictures with adhesive, made groves at the top of the bookcovers so the jewelry would not be disturbed, and then I added the jewlrey and wired it down with a fine wire. I drilled holes into some of the covers so I could attach earrings. photo image-113.jpg photo image-112.jpg

Cowgirl Storage Box

I thought this box would be fun to hold enamel cups and coffee in. It could probably hold a little coffee pot too! I took a wood box and painted it coral. Then I decoupaged the picture on it. Great for one of my camper friends. photo image-114.jpg

Smash Journal

My son gave me the neatest journal for Mother's Day! I just love it. It has little sticky notes, cool journal pages, idea cards, and so much more. How lucky am I to have such a thoughtful son. I am going to work on it this summer when I have lots of time and fun adventures to put in it. Here is the first picture of us that will start off my very special gift. photo image-72.jpg photo image-76.jpg

Burlap Covered Stool

Here was a quick and easy project. I took a burlap potato bag, cut it up, sew it around a stool and stapled the edges around the bottom of the stool. Easy! photo image-110.jpg photo image-109.jpg

Cowgirl Chair

I bought this chair a few months ago. I kept pulling out fabric to recover it, but it was never just right. Then after I re-did the vanity, I thought a pretty cowgirl chair might be cute to go with it. I had fabric left from my nephew's quilt, and I had some fabric I just bought that I love. I decided to mix it up a bit, and this is what I came up with. I still have a little ways to go, but it's almost done. photo image-108.jpg photo image-107.jpg

Cowgirl Vanity

I was so excited when I saw this vanity! I new it had lots of potential with a little bit of up-do. The mirror was missing and so I had to be creative. I turned the mirror stand around and attached an old glass jar I found in a dump. It can hold dried or fresh flowers. I had an old handle for the drawer, and I re-did the seat cushion. It just might be better than new! photo image-106.jpg photo image-105.jpg photo image-104.jpg

Highline Ranch Sisters Funfest

Next week I am going to my sister & brother-in-law's ranch in Wyoming. My sister is having a Sisters on the Fly meet-up. We are going to fly fish, camp, have Dutch oven cooking, artsy classes, dancing, laughing and lots of fun! I am going to teach a junk journaling class, Cindy is doing stained glass junk, and who knows what else. There will be a craft sale and an event to raise money for women in recovery. I am so excited to participate! I'm trying to make stuff to take. There are still a couple of spots left to go. Anyone interested? photo image-90.jpg

Enamelware Bins

I LOVE enamelware! I found 2 enamelware bins/containers sometime ago. I bought them and put them aside. Well, yesterday I found 4 enamelware plates, and a big pot. So today I pulled out the containers and decided to put them to use. I really don't know what they were used for because they have holes near the top. I thought it would be cute to take torn strips of fabric and weave it through the holes and tie it into bows. I liked that. Then I put some of my old utensils in them for my camper. I liked that too! photo image-100.jpg photo image-102.jpg

Same Camper Decorated 2 Different Ways!

When I started working on my camper, I made sure I could change the look easily. I made my cushions reversible. Actually, I can take them off and turn them inside out to get a total of 4 different looks. I made different curtains for the side windows and made burlap curtains for the front window because it goes with just about anything. My husband has been rewiring my camper and I had to move everything, so when he was done I thought it was a good time to show a different look. photo image-95.jpg photo image-97.jpg photo image-96.jpg photo image-99.jpg photo image-98.jpg

Dutch Oven Cooking!

Saturday I took a Dutch oven cooking class. It was a hoot! We made Cowgirl Quiche with fried potatoes, eggs, cheese, avocado, green chilies, onions, and more. It was delicious! photo image-88.jpg Then we made cinnamon rolls with bisquick, brown sugar, butter..lots of butter, cinnamon, pecans, and other spices. After they were cooked we made cream cheese frosting for them. Oh, my! photo image-87.jpg Next we made peach cobbler with bisquick, oats, peaches, butter, and more yummy ingredients. No dinner for me last night, I was stuffed! photo image-86.jpg We also learned how to make green chili pork. I had to leave before it was done. I couldn't have eaten it anyways because I was stuffed! photo image-89.jpg It was a great day and our host Barbra was so much fun and a great teacher. I'm going to try some of these recipes out when I go to Wyoming. We are having an evening of Dutch oven cooking and I hope mine will be delicious.
