Canvas Book

Last November my sister's and I attended a KC Willis collage workshop. It was wonderful! I learned how to use photo transfers, collage materials and how to use a heat gun to make canvas look old. If you have a chance to attend one of her workshops you should do it!! Here are a few pages of the canvas book I made using old family photos.

Bucket

This is the sixth bucket I have made. They are great to take camping because they serve as a stool, an ice bucket, or a picnic bucket. When we go out for a long weekend I sometimes take one with craft supplies in it. I have one at school with cleaning supplies and I even made a "Man Bucket" for a friend of ours.

Heart Felt

A friend of mine was selling hand dyed wool and I bought a couple of boxes of it. I wasn't sure what I would make with it, but I thought it was beautiful. The first thing I made was a flower. Then I made more flowers and pretty soon I had a lot of flowers!

Next I made some needle cases!

And last I made some thread and pin holders.

iPad Holder

My saying for this year is: She Believed She Could So She Did.
I embroidered the saying on old linen and then collaged different fabrics
together with whip stitches. I added some trim and bound it all together on my trusty sewing machine. I made an extra pocket so I can carry a little notebook and pencil. (This was before I started using the note pad on the iPad).

Sew Pretty!

This weekend I spent a little time making fabric flowers, tags and recycled gift boxes. I took pictures for my blog and planned for a weeks worth of blog entries. One of my resolutions this year is to be better about keeping my blog current. I'm not going to count January because it's, well, now February! So here we go...

Happy Valentine's Day

Here is a simple way to create a sweet Valentine's Day flower arrangement.
Take a cardboard cone, wrap strips of fabric around it and add a fabric flower.
Inside the cone, place a small glass jar to hold the water and flowers.
Then drill holes in the sides of the cone and attached wire so the arrangement can be hung. You can add a little tag with a sweet note and you are good to go!

You can create the same type of arrangement but use old quilt pieces to cover the cone. Here is an example.

The last arrangement uses scrap material and a photo transfer. I had some old leather pieces that I used to embelish the cone. These could be used any time of the year, and they could be used to hold goodies of all kinds!

Director's Chair

I was leaving a tag sale one day and when I turned to leave I spotted a director's chair that had a bunch of stuff piled on it. I had already had a very nice conversation with the owner and so when I asked if the chair was for sale the very sweet man told me I could have it. Oh my! That is all it takes to make me happy!! We took all the stuff off it and loaded it into my car. The canvas seat and back were rotted on the chair and it was a wee bit falling apart, but I knew it had potential.

I scrubbed the chair down and gave it some new canvas. I then fancied it up with some pretty fringe, a little lace, some old quilt pieces and a picture of a gypsy girl on canvas. Isn't she pretty now?!
