Cowboy Apron

I found an old vintage cowboy apron at an antique store. It was very cute, but very worn. I tried to find it on the Internet and had no such luck. I decided it would be fun to recreate the cowboy image from the apron I found. I sketched it out on a canvas apron and colored it with fabric markers. I still need to add the pockets on the chaps. photo imagejpg1-53.jpg photo imagejpg1-54.jpg

Old Drawer Shelf

For this project I took an old drawer, a table runner and a piece of Cori Dantini fabric and put it together to make a wall shelf. I am loving this fabric combined with vintage linen. I added some old bottles to set on the shelf. I think it would also be cute with books, or to hang jewelry. There are so many fun ways to use old drawers! photo imagejpg1-50.jpg photo imagejpg1-51.jpg photo imagejpg1-52.jpg

Enamel Flower Pots

My niece, Shannon, sent me some vintage enamel pots a couple of months ago. I pulled them out today and painted herb on one and flowers on the other. I found some pretty flowers and herbs to plant in them, and set them on my plant stand outside. Just what I needed to make me smile! I hope your weather is as great as ours is today! photo imagejpg1-48.jpg photo imagejpg1-47.jpg photo imagejpg1-49.jpg

Another Chair Recovered

There were a couple of chairs at school that had a sign on them that said "FREE". Well, you know me, I just can't resist a free chair. Again I used fabric I had to recover this chair. It was quilted and pretty easy to hand stitch. It's actually easier for me to sew by hand than try to figure out how to sew a cover on the machine. photo imagejpg1-46.jpg photo imagejpg1-44.jpg photo imagejpg1-45.jpg

Fabric Covered Office Chair

I had the most wonderful weekend with family at my neiece's wedding in San Diego. My niece Amanda was the beautiful bride and she married the handsome groom, Vernon. It is such fun to be at a celebration that is joyful! I'm sharing this information so you know why I haven't had a post since Wednesday! I just finished this office chair. I used material that I had on hand, and the little piece with the girl is material created by Cori Dantini. I love her material! I also used a little bit of vintage linen and a Dresden quilt piece. I'm working on a box similar to this. I really would like to use up some of my material before I buy any more. Here is the before picture of the chair: photo imagejpg1-38.jpg Here is the after picture of the chair: photo imagejpg1-40.jpg photo imagejpg1-39.jpg photo imagejpg1-41.jpg photo imagejpg1-42.jpg photo imagejpg1-43.jpg

Pampering With Herbs & Essential Oils

For years my sister-in-law has given me lavender and told me to use a little on my bed linens so I would sleep better. Did I try it? No. Well, about a month ago I was having a hard time sleeping and I rubbed a little lavender oil on the bottom of my feet before bed, and I slept so much better! I have another friend who is really into essential oils, and she gave me a some to try. I have a book that has recipes for different uses, and I am finding it very interesting. This gave me an idea for a gift box. I had a needlepoint that was from the 1960's and it had flowers and herb designs stitched on it. I decided to use it to make a box of pampering pretties. I made sachets, essential oil covers, a relaxing eye pillow sachet, room sprays,a soap bag and more. There is a new magazine coming out in May called "Willow and Sage" by Stampington Publications. I think I'm going to check it out! photo 011-11.jpg photo 012-5.jpg photo 013-6.jpg photo 015-1.jpg photo 020-9.jpg photo 008-10.jpg

Cowboy Popcorn Bag

I saw this image on a vintage popcorn bag. I thought it was pretty cute, so I stitched it on fabric. I'm not sure if I'll use it on a pillow or on a dish towel. photo imagejpg1-37.jpg

Cowhide Step Stool

A gal at work wanted her step stool redone. I had intended to do the whole thing in leather and cowhide. I started the project, and I was trying to sew everything by hand, and it was so hard! I knew I would never complete it sewing it all by hand, and with leather. I finally took a chair pad I had, and sewed some leather on it, part by hand, part by machine. By the time I was done, I was feeling o.k. about the project. I will not be doing any more projects with hand sewn leather! Scrap Happy Box

How cute is this box?! My son's girlfriend, Amanda, made it. She sent me an email saying she liked the one I made for Michael, and she wanted to make one for special keepsakes they have collected, and one for family keepsakes. This is what she created! I told her it was so much cuter than mine, and I hinted that I might need one just as cute. I asked her if I could share her pictures, and she said absolutely. Enjoy! photo imagejpg1-28.jpg photo imagejpg1-29.jpg photo imagejpg1-30.jpg photo imagejpg1-31.jpg photo imagejpg1-32.jpg

Silver Buckle Necklace

This was a fun necklace to make. I took a silver beaded chain, a silver buckle from a belt, charms I had from trips I've taken and jump rings to attach the charms to the chain. I wore it to work today and got so many compliments on it. photo imagejpg1-27.jpg photo imagejpg1-26.jpg photo imagejpg1-25.jpg

Costume Jewelry

I bought the most incredible bag of costume jewelry from a friend! It was too pretty not to display. I have already started using it on some of my projects. Rubies and diamonds and pearls, oh my! photo imagejpg1-24.jpg photo imagejpg1-23.jpg photo imagejpg1-22.jpg photo imagejpg1-20.jpg

Sewing Old

I found an old needle pouch years ago. The outside was nothing really special, and actually the inside wasn't either, but I bought it and put it away. I took it out the other day and cut it down a little bit. Then I took some of my little sewn pieces and stitched them to the outside. I want to put some old sewing pieces in the inside as well. photo imagejpg1-9.jpg photo imagejpg1-10.jpg photo imagejpg1-11.jpg
