2013 Journal

I usually start my new journal for the year on my birthday in March. This year I decided to start it the first of the year. I really like a medium sized journal. I can add my writing and small pictures and it just seems to work the best for me. Here are 3 pictures of the outside and the inside of my new journal. photo jou1_zps0679a69e.jpg photo jou2_zps5d6c7661.jpg photo jou3_zpseb10b153.jpg

Embellished Glove

A parent of one of my students gave me a wonderful box of goodies! In the box was a simple white ladies glove. I embellished it with some lace and such. Pretty, feminine and just my style! photo glove_zpsbe651012.jpg

Scrap Bib

If you ever need to make a quick baby shower present, this might be just the thing! I had a vest made of quilted material. I hadn't worn it in some time, but I really liked the material. I cut a bib shape out of the back side of the vest. I zig-zagged stitches around the outside edge, and then used scissor blades to frey the edges. I tore matching fabric strips to make the ties, and attached them to the bib with buttons. Photobucket

Handkerchief

Handkerchief: a small cloth for wiping the nose, face, etc. Don't ask me where my love for old things comes from. I am just drawn to them. Pretty linens, buttons, quilts, and yes, handkerchiefs. The only two people I know that use cloth handkerchiefs all the time are my sister-in-law Julie, and my dad. Actually, my dad has kind of gravitated to paper towels, but we won't mention that I just told everyone that. Anyway, over Christmas break I washed and ironed all of my handkerchiefs. Really I do have a life, but I LOVE crisp, clean ironed fabrics. They just look so pretty! If a tear ever falls, you can count on Julie to reach into her bag and give you a fresh handkerchief to wipe it away. Photobucket

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Arizona, known for it's sunshine and warm weather has turned cold! Freezing cold! My poor flowers, plants and me! I have been down with the bug for days! I usually have a hard time sitting still for an hour and I have slept and fevered away almost 4 days. Enough!! I pulled myself out of bed and finished this pair of mittens. Tomorrow I will go back to school and get ready for our anual art show, which will be held a week from Thusday. I think I can...I think I can.... I think I can!!! Photobucket

Everything is Going to be Alright!

Yesterday I was leaving the gym and I looked down and saw a beautiful leaf shaped like a heart. I picked it up and looked around and saw more leaves on the path, all facing me, all shaped like hearts. I picked a second one up and took them home. This morning I stamped one heart with the words "I love you", and the second heart I stamped "I love you more". I take this as a sign from my mom that everything is going to be alright. Photobucket

Conley's Cowboy Quilt

My nephew Conley will be 4 very soon. I started this quilt a couple of years ago and finally decided it was time to get moving on it. It is a twin sized quilt, and is a replica of a quilt my grandma made for my brother when he was a little boy. I finished drawing and coloring the main part of the quilt. Now I just have to add the borders and quilt it. I am putting this on my priority list, so I will post a picture of it, completed, by the end of the month! Photobucket
